Vassena Filiere broadens out with diamond drawing dies

The historical company Vassena Filiere located in Malgrate (Italy) begins 2019 with a big novelty: diamond drawing dies are now part of the company’s production range.

After the introduction of pressure dies for diamond dies last month, Vassena is now able to provide the whole package: pressure dies plus diamond dies. Natural diamond dies, poly-crystalline synthetic diamond dies and mono-crystalline synthetic diamond dies, particularly suitable for the wire drawing of non-ferrous metals, can be supplied in a wide range of diameters, in order to meet all the needs of a wide customer base.

Pressure dies for diamond dies - new in Vassena's product range

The pressure die system was developed by Vassena in order to reap the benefits of increased pressure and the consequently improved lubrication in both low and high-speed wire drawing processes.
Vassena taps into this innovative patented system applying it to polycrystalline diamond dies (PCD dies), especially designed for wire drawing of non-ferrous metals. The use of a pressure die prevents solidification of lubricant in the drawing die cone and allows an improved wire coating. The combination of these elements ensures reduced friction, less energy waste and most importantly a longer die life. Pressure dies and PCD dies can be easily and quickly assembled by operators without fuss.

Vassena  presents new internationally patented VG402R.1 Titanium coated  die for high-speed wire drawing

Vassena Dies unveils a world preview of the new drawing die VG402R.1, designed for high-speed wire drawing. It is equipped with an innovative pressure TITANIUM coated compass, developed according to a new criterion for the calculation of internal geometries, both of the chain and of the bush, in order to obtain a greater anchoring of the lubricant on the wire, thus reducing the friction generated during wire drawing. The result is an increased drawing speed and a significantly reduced cost incidence in the supply chain on the machining process.

BENEFITS:

30% INCREASE IN DURATION in comparison to the old version VG402R
The new pressure device VG402R.1 increases the lubrication of 200% compared to the old VG402R.

BETTER QUALITY OF WIRE
With dies Type "L", long nibs, there's a reduction of the drawing stress because of the lower friction, that allows a better plastic deformation

LONGER LIFE OF PRESSURE DIES VG402R.1
With the titanium coating, the life of each pressure device is around three/four years.

NO BREAKAGE OF DIES
The nib is fixed into the steel case, to eliminate the vibration, causing the breakage of nibs.

BETTER THERMAL DISPERSION
Thanks to the appropriate size of the nibs compared to the holes

RESPECT FOR ENVIRONMENT
Vassena's dies can be repaired and re-used

Vassena  to attend 7th International Conference on Drawing in Poland

On March 2-4, Zakopane in Poland will host the 7th International Conference on Drawing. Organizers for this event, to be held at the Antałówka Hotel, include members of the Poland Chapter of the Wire Association International.

The Italian wire drawing dies manufacturer Vassena will be present together with its Polish agent with a table top at the conference, in order to consolidate its presence and stay close to the customers in the area.
Conference topics will include steel wire and wire products, wires and products of non-ferrous metals, management and logistics in the metal industry.

Vassena Drawing dies: open letter

"During the years, we have heard all kind of things about how to get a tool, nay a drawing die, that was together cheap and durable… but unfortunately a so miraculous product has never been found.

Rightly, as my father Giuseppe said, there is no great discovery to revolutionize the system, but it’s the little experiences that allow to enhance day after day, that truly make the difference.
Thanks to his experience there were several innovations in the world of drawing, just think of the cold mounted die, the mechanical wire degreaser, the pressure die, the “L” type die with long cone and more… Ideas and patents that have been adopted and modified by others over time.
Today to talk about pressure system is normal for a young professional, but old wire manufacturers still remember what kind of revolution that was, when considering speed and durability.

This is teaching us to continue to do research on new materials, supported also by our suppliers, on new types of cores, all in order to make these little improvements that allow drawing at high speeds by reducing the number of substitutions of dies, obtaining a wire with low deformations due to the stress of wire drawing.

For this reason some years ago we have developed the type “L” die which enables, thanks to a prolonged conical part, an appropriate material, a geometry studied for every single drawing step, to get those long expected results both on high resistance and on galvanized wire.
Obviously we talk about a die composed of a drawing core which is well dimensioned and firmly and irremovably embedded in a steel case, all to reduce the vibrations and consequently the breakage of the same core and able to withstand the drawing speed and obtain a high final quality with state-of-the-art drawing machines.
The cost of this die, though being higher compared to the one with a small core, gets easily reduced to zero at the end when you consider the tons of highly quality wire you produce and the number of dies you replace.

Soon we will present our newborn product, covered by international patent, a brand new pressure insert designed to increase the lubrication of the wire also at low speeds.

We thank you for the time and thank our customers for the trust they've shown in all these years.
Yours sincerely

Davide Vassena

High-speed wire polishing: up to 25 m/s with the new Vassena cleaning device

Easy to use and affordable, this wire cleaning device requires no maintenance and it is able to clean the surface of wire at a speed reaching 25 meters per second.

The machine is composed of two units which rotate in opposite sense, controlled by two different motors and by an inverter to adjust the rotation speed.

Different abrasives cubes with multiple particle sizes are available; from the coarser one (36) to the finer (320), in order to meet all the customer needs.
